Kim Thúy Ly Thanh, 1968- , Vietnam.

When Thúy was ten, her family fled Vietnam and were accepted in Canada as refugees. She studied linguistics and then law, returning to Vietnam for four years as a lawyer. After running a restaurant in Montréal, she turned to writing. Thúy published her first novel, Ru, in 2009, and continues to write to critical acclaim.
