Bachir’s family came to Canada in 1965, settling in Toronto. As a young man, he started publishing entertainment news to parallel the video rental market, a niche that expanded with a magazine partnership and then leadership at Famous Players theatres and Cineplex Media. Bachir accompanies this career with a remarkable record of support for the arts and social justice causes, notably for the 519, a LGBTQ2S community centre in Toronto.
